Concept Mapping Paper Wins IACM Outstanding Article of the Year

August 10th, 2010

CSI is proud to announce that the International Association for Conflict Management (IACM) has awarded its 2010 Outstanding Article of the Year designation to "The critical role of conflict resolution in teams: A close look at the links between conflict type, conflict management strategies, and team outcomes" (Behfar, Peterson, Mannix, & Trochim, 2008).  Each year, IACM chooses one article or book chapter that has made significant and lasting contribution to the field over the two previous years.

The article details the qualitative study of 57 autonomous teams representing an entire 1st-year MBA class of 252 students.  The study explores linkages between strategies for managing different types of conflict and group performance and satisfaction.  The results suggest that top performing teams share similar conflict resolution strategies.  Concept mapping was used as a part of the study to gain an understanding of how the participants think about conflict resolution strategies.

Congratulations to Kristin J. Behfar, long-time friend of Concept Systems, on this terrific accomplishment!
