The facilitator must take a number of preparatory steps to set up a successful Concept Mapping project.
Usually, the Concept Mapping process begins when one party (the initiator) contacts a person who is experienced with Concept Mapping and can help see the project through (the facilitator). One of the first things that needs to be done is to identify the Concept Mapping participants. The facilitator then works with the initiator and identified participants to decide the focus for the Concept Mapping, the participant demographics, the rating information that will be gathered, and the schedule that will be followed.
